If you’re new to Mightier Acorns, you may have wondered about the “Family Reunion” posts that pop up with what I hope is enticing spontaneity. They started as a series of posts about the sixteen surnames of the great-great-grandparents of my children. When I finished the first batch, I explained in “Families Reunions: Their Sixteen”:
Early on, I found a useful approach to research in “My Sixteen: A Self-help Guide to Finding Your Sixteen Great-great Grandparents” by Robert W. Marlin. The goal of tracing and documenting all 16 great-grandparents gave my research some focus and scope. And I have found that it is a lot easier for cousins and fellow researchers to find you if you talk about more surnames than your own.
Since then, I have been adding posts about my sixteen (column A) and my wife’s sixteen (column B):
If you research any of these surnames, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know. I plan on working my way “up” as far as I can with each family, and (time permitting) will add people to WikiTree as I find them. If you let me know who you’re most interested in, there’s a good chance that will steer me toward that family.
Here are the links to all 32 posts, so you don’t have to go hunting:
This has been a useful way for me to lay a foundation - but now it’s time to build from there. Starting next week, I have a new series that will take us as far back as I can reliably go from each of these 32 families.
To join me on the journey.
We have Tuttle in common although my connection is Deborah Tuttle, daughter of Elisha and Polly. She’s my 2nd great grandmother from Connecticut. I’m so glad you use WikiTree. Do you suppose we’re connected??
Fabulous idea and one I'll be adding to my to-do list - thanks!
